The average response time of EMS in the United States is 7 minutes. Will you be able to wait that long if you find yourself in a life-threatening situation? In this class, you'll learn a variety of methods to treat wounds caused by firearm related injuries that could potentially save a life when every second matters. Students will learn to implement their firearms in a defensive manner while simultaneously treating fatal wounds. AFA has partnered with Walt Settlemyre, a US Army veteran, Rescue Paramedic, and current EMS attached to a Special Operations Team in the Austin area. Students will walk away from this class with a deep understanding of trauma care, shooting under stress and challenging active shooters situations. Many may carry a gun, but few have the knowledge, training and equipment to stabilize victims of a gunshot wound.
